Winters in Holland are often fairly mild in recent with much cloud and drizzle but little snow or ice.
Not so this year! Temperatures were well below zero with plenty of snow. People were skating on canals everywhere.
In Dordrecht we stayed in a small hotel that was actually a converted watertower.
Funnily shaped rooms with tiny little windows but quite cozy.
If there's a bit of wind blowing you can just feel the structure swaying.
A scenic cycle route leads right past the place and the informal downstairs restaurant
has become a very poplular stop for cyclists, especially on summer evenings.
